The theme for Day 2 of the week-long Love Whistler celebration is “Love Your Partner” and Whistler has no shortage of epic ways to impress the most important person in your life. But what about all the poor souls without a soul mate? Those lonely riders forever banished to the singles lift lines? Fear not, according to Oprah’s matchmaker a ski town is the perfect place to look for a partner. And here’s why:

1. Real Jobs
Don’t get me wrong, bona fide, unemployed Ski bums make good soul mates because they understand what is truly important in life, and are always super grateful if you buy them beer and/or instant noodles but there comes a time in most everyone’s life when your perfect partner is the person who can afford to gas up the car and whisk you away for a weekend in the mountains. People you meet on the ski hill are generally gainfully employed and doing well enough they can afford a holiday in the mountains. Good qualities for a potential soul mate.
2. Appreciation of Nature
Skiers and snowboarders love nature. They are drawn to fresh air, big mountains, beautiful snow-laden trees and the intrinsic romance of a sunset in the mountains. It sounds simple but you’d be surprised how many people out there just don’t have a clue as to how nature ties in to all other aspects of a balanced life, including romance.
3. Lust for Life
The sad reality is life can overwhelm you with mundane details like folding laundry and putting the dishes away in the exact same spot as the last two million times you put them away. Some people can bottle up these endlessly same moments into a life of quiet desperation. Others run to the hills to let the wind blast their faces and adrenaline fill their hearts. The second way is best for you: adventure and romance truly go hand in hand.

Picture this: a room full of happy, mostly employed people celebrating the adventures and glory of another day in the mountains. Add good music, dancing, a crowd that sheds layers of clothing as the afternoon progresses, food that is meant to be shared and more than a little alcohol.
5. Plans for the Future
Skiing and snowboarding are the perfect built-in first date. You don’t need to get creative to think of something fun, it’s all right there for you: frest air and good times with drinks at the end and a common subject of discussion. Be wary though, if your date’s skill levels aren’t somewhat on the level with yours trying to force a day on the slopes together can be romance Kryptonite.
