The great green ogre is coming to Vancouver! Shrek the Musical graces Vancouver from February 7th to 22nd. The stage musical, based on the 2001 animated DreamWorks movie, will be showing at Michael J Fox Theatre in Burnaby. The film, which featured the voice of Canadian actor Mike Myers, won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature in 2001, while the Broadway musical production was nominated for eight Tony Awards in 2009. The Vancouver production will be Shrek the Musical’s first ever west coast production.

Shrek the Musical tells the hilarious story of Shrek the ogre and his companion, Donkey. Content with his quiet life in a swamp, Shrek soon finds his solitude disrupted by the talkative Donkey. The two end up on a quest to rescue Princess Fiona for the kingdom’s ruler, Lord Farquaad. However, little do they know, Fiona is hiding an ugly secret of her own…

The Vancouver production, in line with the show’s themes, will be donating ten percent of profits to the Stop a Bully Foundation. The charity helps bullied children across Canada by providing schools with a safe and anonymous reporting system.

Shrek the Musical runs from February 7th to February 22nd at Michael J Fox Theatre. Tickets can be purchased at Ticketmaster. For more information, please visit the show website.
