Like karaoke and love Christmas lights? Then this is probably the event for you.
The Vancouver Trolley Company has decked out its wooden trolleys and dragged out its karaoke machines again this year for the one-and-only Karaoke Christmas Lights tour. As the name suggests, this tour brings together the joys of belting out Christmas carols in a moving trolley with chances to see some of the best holiday light displays in town.
Guests can hop aboard the old-fashioned trolleys at 6:30 p.m. every night through Dec. 30 (except Christmas) outside Canada Place for the three-hour musical journey. Inside you’ll find festive holiday lights, coloured bows and a karaoke machine charged up and ready to rock.
As the trolley pulls off into the city, your musical host will get the festivities started. Belt out a few holiday classics as the lights of downtown whizz by en route to the first stop of the evening, Bright Nights in Stanley Park.

This incredible display in the heart of Vancouver’s 1,000-acre forest consists of more than 3 million twinkling lights. Stretch your legs while admiring the elaborate set pieces around the Bright Nights Christmas Train station. While there’s not enough time to actually board the train – which winds its way deep into the forest – just soaking up the frenzied holiday spirit in the park is memorable in itself.
But there’s more carolling to be done. Climb back in the trolley and warm up your vocal chords for another round of tunes as the tour zips across downtown and climbs toward the Shaughnessy neighbourhood on the way to the Festival of Lights display at VanDusen Botanical Garden.

Wander along VanDusen’s elegantly manicured pathways while admiring more than 1 million coloured lights. Don’t miss the “dancing” display around Livingstone Lake, which blinks in rhythm with holiday tunes every half hour. Also enjoy gnome performances, shadow puppets and photos with Santa.
Finally, pack back into the trolley and pass the mic for one more round of holiday karaoke as the tour returns downtown, leaving guests back at Canada Place on the Vancouver waterfront.
The three-hour Karaoke Christmas Lights Trolley is $40 for adults, $35 for seniors and students and $25 for kids. The trolley leaves at 6:30 p.m. nightly from Canada Place through Dec. 30 (except Christmas). Tickets are available on the Vancouver Trolley Company website.
