Tour de Butt: Vancouver Naked Bike Ride this Saturday!
There’s only one word that comes to mind when the phrase “Naked Bike Ride Vancouver” is mentioned, and that is — without a doubt — OUCH! (However, organizers mention that covering seats with fur helps quell the pain a bit). Vancouverites who love to dare to bare will be coming together this Saturday, June 13th to roll through the streets of Vancouver and likely get a few stares. If you’re up for it, join hundreds of happy naked cyclists who will be taking to the streets for the annual Vancouver Naked Bike Ride this weekend.
The dress code is actually quite flexible, so if you want to show up wearing a swimsuit or scuba gear, all the power to you. However, if you really want to be a part of the action, you’ve got to strip down to your birthday suit and go for a ride.
Body painting and performances will also be taking place before naked bike ride actually begins. Everyone is welcome to join the party, which happens from noon to 2:00pm at Sunset Beach in English Bay!
If you’re thinking of joining the Vancouver Naked Bike Ride, here are a few tips for a good time:
- Prepare for riding rain or shine!
- If it’s sunny, put on sunscreen!
- You do not have to be naked to join the ride.
- Wear shoes!
- If you’re shy, we start the ride with some clothing on and then stop away from the crowds to get more bare!
- Keep your clothes with you — you never know when you may need them (like… after the ride).
- Decorate your bike! Come with signs and funky hats!
- Cover your bike seat with fake fur!
- Ride safely and stay together as a group.
The Vancouver naked bike ride also coincides with other world-wide events for an accumulation of tens of thousands of happy naked cyclists roving the streets to raise support for human-powered transportation, safe streets and body positivity.
