There is no end to the possibilities of Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland. With so many colourful characters and incidents to draw, the classic keeps inspiring artists in all media.

This weekend, a Vancouver flamenco company is offering its take on the work with Alice In Wonderland 2015, a re-imagining of the tale with a Spanish influence.

Alice in Wonderland 2015 features Karen Pitkethly and the Karen Flamenco dancers in a new adaptation of Carroll’s classic. Karen Flamenco’s Alice in Wonderland blends familiar Wonderland elements and motifs, including dancing ruffled flowers, twirling caterpillars, a Cheshire cat, marching cards and a mad tea party with original music and dance.

The presentation will also showcase new works by guest choreographers. Flamenco guitarists Liron Man and Marek Wojtaszek-Marekito and singers Jafelin Helten and Farnaz Ohadi contribute music. The story adaptation is by Gerardo Avila, Robyn Ross and Kieren of Cirque Vancouver.
