JUMP OFF at the Olympic Tower
For this edition of JACKALOPE, you can watch in awe and be a part of history as Montréal hosts Canada’s first official base jump competition at the Olympic Tower. Standing at 165 metres (541 feet), this 45-degree architectural wonder and world’s tallest inclined tower offers an exhilarating locale from which to leap. The competition will feature 10 competitors, including one wheelchair athlete, who will jump off, free fall for 60 feet then parachute glide for another 490 to try to nail targets on the ground. All in the span of some 40 seconds. Serious inspiration!

Other cool new features this year
As with all events that deliver phenomenal fun and good times, this festival is growing. Fast. And so, for it’s 5th anniversary, to give everyone more of what they love, there will be a few new additions. Like bleachers at the skate park, to give your legs a rest and better views. Also, live music (High Klassified, The Posterz and Ragers), because what’s better than groovy beats while watching the groovy action?
It pays to pay
New also will be a day pass ($5 or $10 a day) or weekend pass ($15 presale, $20 on site) to help cover the costs and grow the festival. We should mention that in five short years its audience base has already expanded from 6,000 to 20,000. Now, if any skinflints get Grinchy about having to pay this nominal fee, consider this: what other event gives you such heart-pumping thrills, such a cool venue—the Olympic Park, in all its historic, architectural and iconic glory—and the chance to see and meet international-caliber athletes at a top-drawer sports competition at such rock-bottom prices? Few. And that’s not including the initiations and demonstrations, all intended to spark the Jackaloper flame in you.
Pop-up shops, food trucks, water gun fights a VIP section with hot-air balloons
On top of the mind-blowing tricks and the athletic prowess that will keep crowds dizzy with delight, there will be plenty more stuff to enjoy at the Esplanade. Be sure to browse the pop-up shops, grab a bite to eat from Montréal’s famed food trucks and kick back in the twice-the-size site this year. And families, you can take advantage of an on-site daycare too. Plus, if you want to splash it up, the VIP section lets you enjoy a host of goodies including couches, TVs, a private bar and private washrooms, massages, snacks, meetings with invited athletes as well as the chance to catch the action from two hot-air balloons. You can also peace out with yoga sessions, cool off with a giant water gun fight and dance the night away at after-parties that shake down at 129 Van Horne (as in Avenue).
