Whistler Awesomeness for Kids

Whistler for kids is especially AWESOME this weekend. It’s year 29 for the Whistler Children’s Art Festival and this is an event you don’t want to miss. Whistler’s Creekside is transformed into Wonderland for the wee (and not so wee) ones with tons of live entertainment, over 20 artsy workshops,  the Vancouver Circus School, Activity Zones and more. Running Saturday and Sunday July 14 15 from 10am-4pm, try to make a day of it or spread it out between the two days. Cost is $8/day per kids or $15 for both days, adults by donation.

This fest is great for kids of all sizes with workshops tailored to various age ranges. My guy has made everything from mosaic patio tiles to dream catchers, learned magic tricks and circus stunts, and played bongos alongside an African troupe. Check out the workshops and register on the Whistler Arts Council website.

The theme continues throughout the village with many of the same performers roving the stroll and Whistler Olympic Plaza. Friday through Sunday the Vancouver Circus School will be throwing free workshops, and performances and there will be Whistler Museum Lego Building and Great Games on the lawn. More details here! Children’s entertainers The Monkey Bunch 7 pm Friday (The Cool Balloon guy peforms from 6-7) and Locarno 7pm Saturday night will perform on stage at Olympic Plaza.

If you’re still looking for summer daycamps for the kids, there’s still time and lots of fun stuff to choose from. Whistler Sports Academy Combo Camps, RMOW day camps, Sailing, Soccer, Wakeboarding, Little Bear Musical Camps, Kishindo,  Reading Clubs – the list goes on. For more information on these great camps, check out the summer camp listings on Whistler4kids.com.

And don’t miss the escapades of local mom Anastasia Chomlack as she documents her summer adventures with her two growing boys. From navigating new bike trails to snowboarding on the glacier to jumping into local lakes… what better way to see Whistler than through the eyes of 2 homegrown kids. Read on to week one of Chasing Boys: Adventures of a Whistler Mom.

Have a great weekend with the kiddos!
