Walk a Mile in Her Shoes

What started out in 2001 as a small group of men daring to totter around a park in women’s shoes, has grown to become a world-wide movement with tens of thousands of men raising millions of dollars for local rape crisis centers, domestic violence shelters and other sexualized violence education, prevention and remediation programs.

Walk a Mile in Her Shoes is about engaging the men of our community to walk in support of putting a stop to gender violence. We invite the men of the Sea to Sky to strap on some stilletos and walk the talk!

As a fundraiser, all monies raised will go towards the Howe Sound Women’s Centre’s programs. Despite the seriousness of the topic, Walk a Mile in Her Shoes is a fun family event. Men are encouraged to gather pledges and bring awareness about the event as they prepare for the big day in which they will march approximately one mile in women’s high heel shoes. Friends and family are encouraged to march as well, in support of the well heeled participants.
