Strolling the restaurant, bar and boutique packed streets of Old Montreal in 2013, it’s easy to forget that when this area was new, it was a very scary place. Montreal was born an outpost of “New France”and back then, some insane stuff went down. The town square torture sessions might be over, but the stories of the streets live on in the Montreal Ghost Tour!

Montreal Ghosts “Traditional Ghost Walk” is a 90 minute guided walking tour through the most important and historic places in Old Montreal, with some insider gossip of the intriguing ghosts sightings that have plagued this area for centuries. Your guide for the evening is a pale faced sickly looking elderly gentleman who may in fact also be a ghost! He tells the tales of what it was like to live and grow up in the early settlement days of Montreal, when disease and torture was rampant. They also offer a “Ghost Hunt” where you seek out the ghosts and characters from the bygone era, and hear their sordid stories.

This tour is fun and appropriate for the whole family, although the littler ones might get Montreal-based nightmares that evening. But I guess that’s the whole point of a Ghost Tour! So whether you really believe in ghost stories, or just want a fun spin on a traditional walking tour, Montreal Ghost Tour is a fun evening, whose seriousness should be taken with a grain of salt.
