A Whistler Christmas Wishlist

TAG: Family Time, Holidays

It’s a Whistler tradition to wake up on Christmas to fresh snow. Somehow, regardless of the weather it almost always snows on Christmas. Part of that is probably luck, but for sure some of it is because snow is always on Whistler’s Christmas wish list.

Except this year, Christmas came early. Whistler is coming off one of the snowiest Decembers in recent memory with over 270 cm (106 inches) of fresh snow dumping on Whistler in the first three weeks of the month.

December Delivers! LEFT: Snowfall numbers on Whistler Blackcomb this month. RIGHT: What it means for you.

With scores of ecstatic skiers and snowboarders on the hills and Whistler Village looking like a real-life holiday snow-globe, it’s starting to look like Santa might even step up his game for Christmas 2015 and gift us with a night of snowfall followed by clear skies and sunshine for Christmas Day.

That’s what the forecast is calling for anyhow, but Jolly Old Saint Nick is full of surprises so the only way to know for sure is to stay off the naughty list then wake up and head for the hills. Here at The Insider we are thinking of kicking it “traditional style” and opening the gifts on Christmas Eve in order to get those glorious Christmas morning pow turns. In any case, Merry Christmas to all and remember, it’s not the presents under the tree that matter most, it’s the people sitting around it. So here’s to a happy, healthy holidays and all the best for 2016 (and hopefully more snow!)

Check this Whistler Insider “December Pow” video for a taste of what’s been happening on the hills.
