Afternoon Tea on the Tarmac
The following post was written by guest contributor Sarah Hughes, Executive Assistant at Tourism Vancouver.
I had the pleasure of participating in a celebration of the new partnership between The Fairmont Waterfront, The Fairmont Empress and Helijet.
Fairmont Empress General Manager Martin Leclerc travelled to Vancouver aboard a Helijet aircraft from downtown Victoria carrying a freshly made pot of tea. Leclerc was met at the Vancouver Heliport by Fairmont Waterfront General Manager Ian Pullan and Helijet International President and CEO Danny Sitnam, and the three enjoyed afternoon tea right there on the tarmac.
The tea, exclusive to Fairmont Hotels Resorts, was still hot and steaming as it was poured by Leclerc into the gold-plated fine bone china tea cups synonymous with Fairmont Hotels. The refreshing brew was accompanied by Fairmont’s famous scones, jam and Devonshire cream.
The new partnership offers Fairmont President’s Club members a discount on Helijet flights and access to the best available rates at all Fairmont hotels. Membership in the President’s Club, which includes a number of additional benefits, is free.
The Fairmont Waterfront provides luxurious accommodations and meeting space and is in close proximity to Vancouver’s harbour, downtown and the newly expanded Vancouver Convention Centre.
The Fairmont Empress, which adjoins the Victoria Conference Centre and is located in Victoria’s Inner Harbour, boasts old-world charm and stunning architecture.
Helijet, Canadian-owned and celebrating 25 years in business this year, is North America’s largest scheduled helicopter service.
