Capes and Spandex the dress code at 2nd Annual Superhero Ball
Do you secretly dress in a cape or don spandex to appease your superhero alter ego? If you muttered, ‘Yes, how did you know?’ Then fly, teleport or walk to the 2nd Annual Renaissance Vancouver Harbourside Hotel Superheroes Ball October 24.
Just like superheros they admire, fans often like coming to the rescue of those who need it most: enter the 2nd Annual Superhero Ball. Wannabe Batmans and Bombshells, Supermen and Hawkgirls will coverage on the Renaissance’ 19th floor event space Vistas 360 to raise funds for the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation. The dance runs from 7:00 p.m. to midnight and will put the F-U-N in fundraising with drinks, dancing, amazing views and a silent auction.
Last year the sold-out event raised $15,000 for the hospital. This year organizers have raised the stakes and set the fundraising goal at $18,000.
The BC Children’s Hospital is the province’s only full-service, acute-care hospital dedicated to serving close to one million children living in BC and the Yukon. All children who are seriously ill or injured are referred to Children’s Hospital and are either treated at the hospital facility in Vancouver or, with consultation from Children’s specialists, in their home community.
How better to ignite your inner child than to get dressed up for a good cause. Like any costume party, there will be costume contests. FanExpo types are encouraged to compete for the most original, best duo and best villain contests. There will be a Photo Booth at the event to forever record you (and your friends’) fabulous superhero garb.
Vistas 360 will supply fearlessly concocted cocktails and superhero worthy canapés and turntables will be manned by DJ Southpaw.
