Embrace Your Most Fabulous Inner Kid at Storytelling with Drag Queens for Adults in Vancouver

Have you ever gone to storytime at the library with a little one in your life and thought, “I wish they had something like this for adults?” Have you ever thought that drag queens would be great at doing storytime? Both of these wishes will come true on November 29th at Café Deux Soleils!
Hosted by International Centre of Arts and Technology, Storytelling with Drag Queens for Adults is inspired by the famous drag queen story hours for kids at the public libraries in San Francisco and Brooklyn but with a specific twist: the intended audience is grown-ups. The drag personas telling stories that night will be Oliv X, Rogue, and Peah Emm (P.M.). Peah Emm, in their own words, is a “drag thing that loves mixing contemporary art with drag. Rogue is “known for her warm personality and modern sense of fashion” and loves kids. Oliv X is a seasoned drag queen with previous storytime experience.

There’s no minimum age to attend, but those grown-ups thinking of bringing kids with them should know there might be some adult material. (There is an event specifically geared towards kids happening on November 26th). Drag queens pick their own favourite stories to read; the event description promises “evocative, sassy, sexy” stories.

As if listening to stories isn’t enough to make you feel like a kid again, the event also encourages you to bring your own markers, pencil crayons or pens so that you can colour the drag queen colouring sheets provided. (They also give out crayons to use if you prefer).
Past events have been quite popular, drawing from 50 to 100 people, so arrive early to avoid disappointment and to snag some yummy food for Café Deux Soleils. RSVP to the Facebook event. See you there!
