Get Ready to Rumble! Golden Dumpling Cook Off Comes Back to Vancouver August 8th

Pitting dumpling chef against dumpling chef, the popular Golden Dumpling Cook Off is returning to Vancouver on Sunday, August 9th to celebrate the delicious dumpling with a cook-off, eating contest and more!
Chefs from local Chinese restaurants will be on hand to cook up classic dumplings, but some of Vancouver’s hippest hotspots will also be serving up fresh takes on the filling-and-wrapper format. It’ll all be going down at the Food Cart Festival under the Cambie Street Bridge (so you can stuff your face with dumplings as an appetizer, then eat from a bunch of food carts for the main course!)
The Golden Dumpling battle cook off has an expert panel of judges tasting their way through entries from 17 restaurants battling for bragging-rights and the legendary Golden Dumpling trophy. One winner will reign supreme and have the right to call their dumplings the best in Vancouver!

Unlike those competition cooking shows on TV, you will actually get a chance to try the cook off competitor’s entries!
If you want to have a chance to taste all of the entries for the golden dumpling trophy, all you have to do is purchase a Dumpling Passport to get samples from each of the 17 restaurants as well as refreshments from Red Truck Brewery and Happy Planet.
Not only will the dumpling competition be awesome to watch (and taste), there will also be a dumpling eating contest going down. Eight men and eight women will try their best to eat up as many dumplings as possible, with one winner from each gender taking home a coveted prize. The Golden Dumpling Cook Off and Derby will be taking place on Sunday, August 9, 2015 at the Food Cart Festival Grounds (215 West 1st Avenue) from 1:00 – 5:00pm. Proceeds from the event go to The Chinese Elders Community Kitchen, a program of the Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre.
