Groundbreaking Vancouver label celebrates 30th anniversary with limited edition vinyl!

This year, the label that gave the world Sarah McLachlan, Skinny Puppy and a host of other homegrown talent is celebrating its 30th anniversary.

For the occasion, Nettwerk Records has already released limited edition vinyl versions of three of its most influential albums. As of last week, Delerium’s Karma, MC 900 Ft Jesus’ Welcome To My Dream and Single Gun Theory’s millions, like stars in my hands, the daggers in my heart rage war were available in new editions in the format. This Friday (Nov. 27, Black Friday), Nettwerk is releasing Trespassers William’s Different Stars.

Karma is the 1997 breakthrough album from Delerium, and the follow up to the Vancouver duo’s 1995 debut album Semantic Spaces (which featured the hit single “Silence” with Sarah McLachlan on vocals). The special edition is coke-bottle green coloured and includes a download card with bonus remixes.

American multi-instrumentalist/songwriter MC 900 Ft Jesus (Mark Griffin) released Welcome To My Dream in 1991. The record has since earned a cult reputation as a pioneering work of hip-hop, funk and jazz-fusion. (According to Wikipedia, U2 used a sample from “The City Sleeps” on the track “Daddy’s Gonna Pay for Your Crashed Car” on their Zooropa album.) The vinyl includes an exclusive download card featuring rare, previously unreleased demos and bonus remixes.

Single Gun Theory was an Australian trio from 1986-2001. Their second album, 1991’s millions, like stars in my hands, the daggers in my heart wage war “fused Indian, Turkish and South-East Asian sounds with early 90s electronica and dream pop vocals,” according to Nettwerk. Trespassers William.

Originally from Southern California, Trespassers William was a Seattle-based dreampop duo. The originally released their critically lauded album Different Stars on their own before Nettwerk re-released the record in 2004. The Black Friday exclusive double vinyl also features a download card with a bonus dance mix “Stars on Different Stars.” Listen to the title track here.
