Inside Vancouver Neighbourhoods – South Main

South Main is the epicentre of everything hip and cool in Vancouver. For decades, this is the neighbourhood that the many of Vancouver’s writers, filmmakers, designers, and visual artists have called home. Once an industrial area, it still has a diamond-in-the-rough vibe that will appeal to visitors of all tastes and backgrounds.

South Main is full of art galleries, vintage clothing and furniture stores, boutique clothing shops and plenty of restaurants. Most of the action takes place on Main Street between East 1st Avenue and East 33rd Avenue, though you’re bound to find some hidden gems if you venture off the beaten path.

This is the perfect area to find one-of-a-kind pieces for your wardrobe or home. South Main is famous for it’s restaurants and coffeeshops, so give yourself some time to sit down and relax after shopping.

You’ll also want to check out attractions like Queen Elizabeth Park, which is home to the Nat Bailey Stadium, the Vancouver Curling Club, and the Bloedel Conservatory.
