Six last-minute NYE suggestions in Vancouver

Stuck for something to do tonight? Here are some suggestions, ranging from comedy to live music to something special at the Hotel Vancouver.

NYE at the Hotel Vancouver – General admission tickets are sold-out. However, some After Midnight, Dinner and VIP tickets remain for this event, which will fill five ballrooms in the Hotel Vancouver (900 Georgia St.) with art, live music (including The Ballantynes and Colleen Rennison of No Sinner), DJs, dining, comedy, dancing, performance, and spectacle. Tickets range from $35 (student rate for After Midnight) – $825 (the Everything Package, which includes a three-course dinner and room for the night at the hotel). Visit here for tickets.

Graham Clark and Friends New Year’s Eve Comedy Show – Graham Clark (Comedy Now, CBC Debaters) hosts a lineup that includes comedians Katie-Ellen Humphries, Jane StantonKyle Bottom, Alicia Tobin, Adam Pateman and Jeff McEnery. There will also be pop, chips, beer, wine and hot dogs at this laugh-filled event, which takes place at the Cambrian Hall (215 E. 17th St, just off Main). Tickets are $25 at Neptoon Records (3563 Main Street). Show: 8:30 p.m.

Falconetti’s (1812 Commercial Drive) – This East Side grill doubles as a live venue music venue at night. For New Year’s Eve, you get Blackheart Branston, Kitty in the City and headliners Deep Seated, a self-described “Funk, Nu-Soul, Acid-Jazz” eight-piece band, as well as bubbly and DJs. Cover charge ($20).

Vancouver TheatreSports League Presents Year in Review – The VTSL improvises on the headlines of 2013, from Miley Cyrus’ twerking on the VMAs to Rob Ford’s crack-smoking in the suburbs of Toronto. The League performs three shows New Year’s Eve, at 7:30 p.m., 9:30 and 11:15, at The Improv Centre on Granville Island (1502 Duranleau Street). Tickets: tickets.vtsl.com

Steel Panther at the Commodore Ballroom (868 Granville St.) – Some tickets remain for this chance to ring in the New Year with these L.A. kings of retro hair metal. Tickets for Dec. 31 range from $59.50 to $150 for VIP tickets, which include priority entrance and exclusive access to VIP area, a fully catered “Steel Panther-inspired” food menu, specialty themed beverages, bubbly at midnight and party favours. Party 2014 with the Go-Go’s – Party like it’s 1983 with the Go-Go’s at the River Rock Casino (8811 River Road, Richmond). The original lineup of the all-girl L.A. band performs their hits “Head Over Heels,” “Our Lips Are Sealed,” “We Got the Beat,” “Vacation” and some classic deep cuts. Doors: 7:30 p.m. (with buffet), show: 11. Show only: doors 10 p.m. Tickets (with buffet): $189.50 or $339 for couples; $109.50 (without buffet) for balcony seating with party favours and midnight toast. Tickets at ticketmaster.ca.
