THE INSEAML VOL. 5: For the lake days
With the gorgeous weather and the amount of lakes in Whistler it is pretty safe to say you’ll be living in your bathing suit part-time this summer. Here are a few of my favourite swimwear trends happening this season:
Graphic one-pieces, I love this cheeky jaws vs. mermaid suit from Black Milk Clothing, they have everything from sugar skulls to aurora borealis prints. There has also been a whole lot of art deco prints that I’m digging, blame it on the return of The Great Gatsby.
High waisted bottoms, I know what you’re thinking- granny panties, but they can be flattering! For them to be flattering it is essential to watch proportions and prints. If you’re unsure, stick with solid colours and bottoms that go up to the narrowest point of your waist. (Suit pictured by Seafolly)
Bustier top, made famous by Selena, this look is flattering on everyone. Maaji (sold at The Beach) has a wide selection with colourful feminine prints and artfully structured boning.
Fringe, I don’t think any style says summer more. The suit picture is by Roxy which has a fringe in every shape and form on their suits this summer.
Tight and bright, the noen trim does it for these Quicksilver shorts- for any design nerds you’ll appreciate the cmyk colour pattern.
Acid wash, something about acid wash makes these ASOS board shorts look casual yet awesome, kind of like how Hugh Heffner pulls of wearing a bathrobe.
Graphic pastel prints, early 90’s in the best way possible, Vans nailed it with the colours of this simple pattern. I am certain Zac Morris would’ve owned these.
Dip-dye, I love the dip-dye/ombre trend and these River Island shorts manage to look like paradise without the Hawaiian print.
Enjoy the lakes kids! And while you’re at it, hashtag your lake style on instagram with #whistlerstyle
