One of the longest running traditions in the city, The Parade of Lost Souls, is a much-anticipated annual event that has been conceptualized and produced by volunteers for over twenty-five years! The iconic event is a favourite for many, in part because of all the collaboration and community effort it takes to put this event together.

Shrouded in mystery, the annual Parade of Lost Souls takes place at a secret location that isn’t revealed until midnight on the night before the event (typically, on or around the Commercial Drive area). This year, the parade will celebrate the “Altar Ego”, and you’ll have a chance to bring it out to play on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 7pm.

The Parade of Lost Souls is undoubtedly a unique experience for everyone involved. It’s a celebration and a ceremony… more of an opportunity for reflection and renewal than a Halloween parade.

But, that doesn’t mean it’s not a party! Everyone is invited to participate in the parade (it’s 100% free). You can wear a costume, bring an instrument, make a dance, join a dance… The parade is for you and by you! It’s a chance to let loose and celebrate with the 2017 theme “Altar Ego”.

As is tradition, the Parade of Lost Souls will return on the last Saturday of the month, October 28, 2017. Each year, the event attracts more than 10,000 lost souls who join into the revelry. The festival’s true popularity lies in its ability to inspire and accentuate the creativity of those who attend.

Years ago, the parade was first conceptualized and produced by the Vancouver-based Public Dreams Society, nowadays the Parade lives on under the direction of its producer since 2014, The Dusty Flowerpot Cabaret.

The parade itself takes place outdoors near Commercial Drive from 7:00pm – 10:00pm, but you are also invited to the Lost Souls After-Party hosted at The Legion on Commercial Drive. Kicking off at 9:00pm, the after-party will boast live music, visuals and performances until 2:00am.

Organizers of the event are inviting you to experience personal growth through the death of the ego. Bring forward an aspect of yourself you might not usually express. Costume yourself in your ALTAR EGO. Let’s dance.
