Winterruption Festival to Take Over Granville Island with Art, Music, and Donuts!
While Vancouver hasn’t really been having much of a “winter” per say, the Granville Island Winterruption Festival is a great excuse to party in the middle of February. Plus, with the forecast looking sunny and cold for the next few days, it’s the perfect weekend for an outdoor festival full of colourful art, music and dance!
For a decade now, Vancouver has been celebrating Winterruption on Granville Island. This truly unique Vancouver winter festival allows Vancouverites and visitors alike to take a break from the gold, grey winter for a burst of fun! From February 19th until the 22nd, the Winterruption festival will be taking over Granville Island food, music, film, arts poetry, kids stuff, and lots of music.
Art is the heart of Winterruption, and this year, it’s going to be bigger than ever – literally! Kick off the festival by checking out Giants, the largest outdoor mural ever created by Brazilian artists OSGEMEOS on six gigantic silos.
The 2015 Winterruption Festival will take a cue from the Brazilian Carnival festival and will feature many colourful and bright activities. Highlights include a Carnival procession, free craft making for kids, a dazzling acrobatic performance, a donut spectacular, a One Man Star Wars Trilogy Performance, and pop up dances.
