Holiday Season Markets: These shopping experiences are full of joy, art, food, jewelry, toys and more. The Grand Ballets Canadiens is hosting the Nutcracker Market at the Palais de Congrès from November 28 to December 8, 2013. It will be an enchanting wonderland of local products, ballet, and Montreal.

One of the largest holiday shopping fairs in Montreal is the Salon des métiers d’art that takes place from December 6 to 22 at Place Bonaventure. This is massive showcase for over 450 talented Quebecois artisans to display their beautiful handmade creations for people to buy and enjoy. Everything from ceramics, wood carvings, clothes, leather bags, paper products, jewelry, jams and more. This is definitely the place to find a unique, thoughtful and sustainable gift.

The Societé d’Art et Technology is hosting Souk @ SAT. This is a bazarre filled with the creative creations of over 70 local artists. If you want something stylish, then Souk @ SAT has it. A green gift for the environmentally friendly can be found at the chic Botanical Garden Christmas Fair taking place December 6 to 8; and again from December 13 to 15, 2013. 20 exhibitors will be presenting their plant-based creations, delicious food items, and other original objects.

The Smart Design Mart from December 6 to 8, 2013 is a curated market in Montreal’s Mile End where young and talented designers sell their creations. It’s these young designers that give Montreal its UNESCO City of Design status, so drop by and see the goods for yourself. HAUT+FORT at the UQAM Sherbrooke Pavilion on December 14 – 15, 2013 has over 75 exhibitors and 1000 unique products. There’s also a Christmas food market. Food and design? Now that’s some serious holiday cheer.

Montreal’s Old Port is home to a new holiday celebration called Merry Montreal. The Christmas Market is in no particular location, but rather in all the little boutiques that line the snow covered cobble-stoned streets. Merry Montreal is from December 14, 2013 to January 5, 2014.

Shopping in Montreal’s Underground City: In Montreal, we welcome the snow and cold air with open arms. The drastic change in temperature brings many amazing things that simply aren’t possible in tropical climates. The best streets to shop in are Saint-Catherine in downtown; Sherbrooke West in Westmount/NDG; Saint-Denis, Saint-Laurent, Mont-Royal and Laurier in the Plateau/Mile End; plus Notre Dame or Saint Paul in Old Montreal.
