1st Annual Flag Stop Theatre & Arts Festival

The Point on Alta Lake. Free Noon – 5:00 pm. Ticketed 6:00 pm. Help make history by experiencing Whistler’s first live theatre on a floating stage! Best to get your tickets in advance at www.thepointartists.com and at Armchair Books, or take your chances at the door.

The festival is free from noon to 5pm with live music under the lakeside tent by Michael Faiella Friends, the Cafe Book Shop for lunch and the TRACKS art show in the lodge. There will also be a special music and theatre performance by the children from Aude Ray’s Expressive Arts workshops at 1:30 and the teens’ recycled fashion design show around 3.

At 6pm the ticketed and licensed part of the festival begins with the opening reception for the TRACKS art show inside the lodge. This will be followed by Whistler’s new improv theatre troupe on the floating stage at 7, then the debut performance of Stephen Vogler’s play, Agnes, set in 1929 at Alta Lake and in San Francisco and featuring Lilli Clark, Angie Nolan, Greigh Laschuk and Wayne Escott along with swing jazz musicians Simon Stribling and Josh Roberts.

As dusk turns to darkness, Aude Ray will perform her one-woman music and dance piece, Suitcase of Dreams as the lantern boat procession winds its way toward the Point. Then it’s back inside where Simon Stribling’s hot swing jazz band will wind out the rest of the evening. Food and drink will be available throughout the day and evening (cash only).

If you’re interested in taking part in the lantern boat procession, please drop by in the afternoon for the lantern making workshop or call me at 604 698-5482.

Looking forward to seeing you there!
