Any beach city worth its sand boasts a talented pool of swimwear designers. This summer, designer Beth Richards is making a splash in the Vancouver swimwear market with her debut 2012 swimwear collection.

Not only have Vancouverites fallen hard for her sophisticated monochrome designs (pictured above), Net-A-Porter.com – the international, big shot, web retailer – has already picked up Beth Richards’ line.

Check out more swimwear from Beth Richards’ collection, and 2012 swimwear by other Vancouver talents such as Anna Kosturova, known for making the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue every year with her sultry crochet bikinis – after the jump.

When Richards moved to Vancouver from Toronto, she started spending summer days on the beach but had trouble finding swimwear that fit her look. The result is her debut collection.

Inspired by icons like Bardot, Hepburn and Madge, I find the look simultaneously elegant, edgy and most importantly, flattering. The one-pieces are the sort that make devoted bikini wearers jump ship.

Meanwhile Anna Kosturova, who’s a Vancouver-success story and an international swimwear designer celeb, at this point in her career, made the 2012 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition once again. Browse the looks the magazine chose here.

Kosturova’s handmade crochet bikinis first appeared in Sports Illustrated in 2006. The line’s appeal extends to women too. Most recently, Spanish Vogue, Elle, People, and German In Style have featured her suits and music-festival-friendly cover ups.
