Bringin’ the Booty

Booty

Contrary to the suggestive  title of this post, the Coast Mountain Culture Backyard Booty is actually about treasure. The spoils of lugging heavy packs full of glass into the mountain wilderness will be presented this Friday at Millennium Place with heavy-hitting lensmen like Blake Jorgensen, Reuben Krabbe and Sherpas Cinema. These are all exclusive presentations, so don’t be expecting a rehash of trailers and footage that you’ve seen before.

But like at any CMC event, there’s always a few off-the-wall performances that you won’t know what to expect from. Like circus artist Julie Istvan performing an aerial routine. A Backyard Booty audience likes rad photos of rad athletes doing rad stuff in the backcountry, but the Booty evening is variety show of all things mountain culture. So expect some surprises.

As usual, the MC for the evening will be Kootenay Mountain Culture publisher and all-round funny guy Mitchell Scott. Be prepared for an evening of laughs, of awe, and maybe even a few tears if you’re lucky enough to win some of the kick-ass prizes.

The Whistler Backyard Booty  is this Friday, December 20 at Millennium Place. Doors open at 7 p.m. with the show at 8 p.m. Get your tickets now from the Whistler Arts Council.
