Fan Expo Vancouver has released the name of its first guest for 2014, and it’s a doozy.

Thanks to his roles in Evil Dead, Evil Dead II and Army of Darkness, Bruce Campbell has a larger-than-large cult following all over the world. More recently, the actor can be seen on the USA Network TV series Burn Notice. So what other surprises does 2014′s Fan Expo have in store?

For one thing, the Expo – going into its third year – is expanding to three days, April 18-20.

Other important dates, such as the ticket sales date and other guests, have yet to be announced. However, you can start taking advantage of special discounted rates for the Vancouver Marriott Pinnacle Downtown and the Renaissance Vancouver Harbourside hotels Jan. 15 here. Both are four-star hotels and in easy walking distance of the Vancouver Convention Centre (1055 Canada Place), where the Expo is held.

Last year’s two-day Fan Expo Vancouver included guests from the locally shot sci-fi TV series Continuum as well as actors from The Walking Dead, Once Upon a Time and the original Star Trek TV series.

Campbell’s appearance is definitely a feather in the cap for this year’s Fan Expo. The actor is almost as beloved for his cameos in Raimi’s Spider-Man films, for his unforgettable performance as Elvis Presley in the 2002 movie Bubba Ho-Tep and his book, If Chins Could Kill: Confessions of a B Movie Actor as he is for portraying the character Ash in the Evil Dead series.
