Get Planking at Science World’s New KEVA Planks Exhibit

Vancouverites are planking like mad at the new Science World exhibit, KEVA Planks, on now through March 15. You won’t see folks lying down facedown with arms stiffly at their sides. You will see adults and kids building incredible structures out of simple 4.5 inch maple wood planks.

Created by the Scheel family, KEVA planks are an addictive building tool for all ages. They work like uber Jenga with a touch more creativity and physics. The planks are precision cut and gravity keeps them together. The Tallest KEVA tower ever built was 51 feet, 8 inches – built at the National Building Museum in Washington D.C. in 2006.

Science World currently has 15,000 KEVA planks in action. Kids and parents take a look at the KEVA structures on display then grab a set and get to work on their own creations. Super young kiddos can start with 200 planks and work on flat shapes, while their older peers can get a set of 1,000 and build upwards.

The coolest part? Every day at 11:00am the staff builds a KEVA tower. And at 12pm they knock it down with help from visitors.

Grown-ups, don’t miss Science World’s After Dark KEVA Mixer with a KEVA plank building competition and a cash bar on February 15.
