They’re back…and the tables are longer than ever.

Whistler’s Araxi Restaurant Oyster Bar has announced the dates for its 2015 Longtable Dinner Series. The popular events are notable for both their strikingly beautiful outside locations and their visual appeal.

Then, of course, there’s the four-course meal of farm-to-table fare, designed by executive chef James Walt.

Every year, the Whistler fine-dining establishment organizes some of the region’s most sophisticated picnics. A very long table–think 250 people seated from end to end–is set with white linens and wine glasses.

Then, strangers quickly become friends over an al-fresco meal served family-style.

This year, there will be two longtable dinners. The first happens on Monday, August 3 at 4 p.m. in Vancouver — that’s the B.C. Day long weekend.

The table will be set at Kitsilano’s Vanier Park, which is where the ocean meets False Creek, and the view looks over Vancouver’s West End and downtown. It’s also the setting for the Bard on the Beach Shakespeare Festival, which runs from early June through late September.

At the Vancouver event, chef Walt will work with his Vancouver-based Toptable Group colleagues: chefs Frank Pabst of Blue Water Cafe, Andrew Richardson of CinCin Ristorante, Quang Dang of West Restaurant, and Thierry Busset of Thierry Chocolaterie Patisserie and Cafe.

Araxi’s second event takes place in Pemberton, which is located about 25 minutes north of Whistler. It happens on Saturday, September 5–during the Labour Day long weekend.

The Pemberton event starts at 3 p.m. at North Arm Farm — an absolutely gorgeous, pastoral location with mountain views. The table will be the longest set to date.

Guests can meet the farmers and suppliers, and tour the organic fields where farmers picked the produce next to the outdoor kitchen.

Tickets for either event cost $159 plus tax and gratuity and include the dinner with wine pairings by Samantha Rahn, 2013 Sommelier of the Year. They do sell out, and you can purchase tickets online here or via email at longtable@araxi.com.
