How fast can you down a Terimayo? How about 20 Terimayos?

Japadog, Vancouver’s most famous street food vendor, is hosting a Japadog eating contest to see who can eat the most Japadogs in 10 minutes at the Vancouver International Airport (YVR) on August 17, 2012.

(Yes, there is a Japadog at YVR.)

Taking place inside YVR at the The Spirit of the Jade Canoe in the International Terminal, Level 3, the first-ever Japadog eating contest will feature six contestants (you could be one!) who will battle it out to eat the most Japadogs in 10 minutes. The winner will take home $250 “YVR bucks” (money that can be spend at YVR) and a $50 Japadog gift certificate, while the remaining participants will get $15 YVR bucks and a $10 Japadog gift certificate just for playing.

How do you get in on the action? If you think you have what it takes to eat/compete, you must visit the YVR Japadog food cart, located at Chester Johnson Park (just outside International Terminal, level 2) between July 13th and August 8th to submit an entry form. Contestants’ names will then be randomly drawn on Thursday, August 9, and contacted by telephone.

For those who can’t stomach the competition, you can still be there to cheer for the winners—and watch the hotdog swallowing—on August 17, from 12:30pm – 1pm. It’ll certainly be novel free entertainment for your own lunch hour!
