Just Opened in Downtown Squamish: Soap Shoppe and Herbal Apothecary

Kirstin French has a bit more elbow room these days. The local soapsmith behind the brand of Be Clean Naturally has finally opened up her own brick-and-mortar space, Soap Shoppe and Herbal Apothecary, on Cleveland Avenue.

Shop owner Kirstin French, who has been a Squamish Farmers’ Market staple for the past four years, started making natural soaps when she met her partner who was allergic to everything – including synthetic fragrances and dyes. The line consists of bar soap as well as refillable liquid, laundry and dish soaps.

“I’m driven by the refill aspect of my business, and passionate about reminding people that we throw a whole lot of stuff away that we don’t need to,” she said.

The space is adjacent to Squamish’s first specialty cheese Black Market Cheese, set to open in the coming weeks, which will offer a
selection of artisan, Canadian-made and imported European cheeses.

Soap Shoppe and Herbal Apothecary is located at 38140 Cleveland Avenue in Downtown Squamish.
