Monogram Dinner by Design debuts in Vancouver

monogramWhat happens when you combine 10 designers, three events and one of Vancouver’s sweetest party destinations? Answer: Monogram Dinner by Design a trio of fun times that mix food and aesthetics at The Imperial at 319 Main Street.

A series of cocktail parties and fundraising dinners that started in Ontario, the GE Monogram Dinner by Design has moved West.

Happening on September 16 and 17 as a prelude to the Interior Design Show West, Vancouver’s Monogram Dinner by Design is hosted by local event darlings from The Social Concierge (of Dinner en Blanc and Deighton Cup organizing fame) and will benefit the Dr. Peter AIDS Foundation.

The two day food, drink and design extravaganza will feature Vancouver’s interior design heavy-hitters like Kelly Deck, Robert Blaney Design, Moeski and Amanda Forrest Design. The designers have 24 short hours to compose three dimensional dining installations for a cocktail event, daytime viewing session and dinner gala.

Tickets to the Cocktail Art! Event on Monday, September from 8:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. include two drinks, live entertainment and a chance to mingle with the design luminaries behind the event.

During the day on Tuesday, September 17 there will be a public viewing of the table/dining space design from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Don’t let the name Dinner by Design fool you. For those who can’t afford the $250 per head option of the Tuesday gala, attendees of the afternoon public viewing can also purchase a bento box with their afternoon gig ticket for a grand total of $45.

On Tuesday night’s gala, diners will be seated at tables designed by 10 different hand-picked westcoast design houses. Local foodie faves, Culinary Capers, will serve up a tasty trio of courses in the finale Dinner by Design evening. Proceeds from the gala will go to the Dr. Peter AIDS Foundation in support of their vital programming at the West End’s Dr. Peter AIDS Center.

“Monogram Dinner by Design aims to redefine the traditional fundraising cocktail dinner party, elevating the sensorial experience at the same time as hosting well-known interior designers, and members of the design community,” said Tyson Villeneuve, co-producer, The Social Concierge.

“This will be a unique and utterly exclusive social experience, all in the name of a good cause.”

What a great excuse to gussied up on a school night, rub shoulders with design-minded West coasters and enjoy a lovely meal or cocktail.
