MTLàTABLE sets the table for La Tablée des Chefs

Montréal loves to eat well. And it’s certainly not lacking in great restaurants. On the city’s dynamic culinary scene, our talented chefs continue to dazzle us with menus chock full of creativity, choice and innovation.

And while Montréal is renowned as a foodie city, it’s a generous city too. People here firmly believe in the importance of sharing meals and in taking care of one other. To underscore Montréal’s generosity and community involvement, this year MTL à TABLE has decided to set the table for people that can’t afford to enjoy the city’s incredible culinary offer.

MTLàTABLE has teamed up with La Tablée des Chefs, whose mission is to feed people in need and teach youth good culinary habits. On November 14, the day after the MTLàTABLE gourmet celebration comes to an end, 15 of the 150 participating restaurants will volunteer their time at a collective cooking event alongside other chefs and volunteers. Out of these kitchens, 3,000 meals (200 per restaurant) will be given to 15 local community organizations via La Tablée des Chefs.

Desjardins is proud to be a part of this project alongside MTLàTABLE. Joining the Tablée des Chefs is a logical extension of its initial partnership with the event. It also provides a new opportunity to give back to the community by supporting the noble cause of the Tablée des Chefs, whose values reflect those of Desjardins.

La_Grande_TableeThanks to its food recovery program, culinary workshops and cooking schools, La Tablée des Chefs provides the social leadership needed to educate youth while aiding people who experience food insecurity. Its successful model has not only traveled to the four corners of Québec, but to other Canadian provinces and around the world. A driving social force for chefs, cooks, pastry chefs and foodies, La Tablée des Chefs offers a panoply of programs where businesses and individuals can get involved and make a real difference in society, now and tomorrow. From November 3 to 13, MTLàTABLE will delight foodies with specially priced table d’hôte menus offered in 150 restaurants across the city. For its fifth edition, with the support of Desjardins, it will also prepare 3,000 meals on November 14, to give to people who cannot afford to dine out.
