Peak to Valley Race

The Peak to Valley is a long standing and unique team race on Whistler Mountain. Teams of 4 (one member must be of the opposite sex) race a course which starts on the Whistler Saddle and finishes at Dusty’s. Two members race on Friday, two on Saturday. The start order is based on age, with the oldest competitors starting first.

The average GS race has 35 gates and a vertical drop of 250 metres. The Peak to Valley race has a vertical drop of 1,443 metres, with 180 gates and a course that’s over 5 km long.

The Race Route for 2011, weather permitting, will start below the Saddle in Glacier bowl, proceed under the Peak Chair and along skiers left of the Reservoir. It follows Old Man, Upper Franz and Lower Franz, merging with the Lower Dave Murray at the top of the pitch just able Dusty’s in Creekside.

The 2012 Peak to Valley Race is February 3-4. Registration for the 2012 event opened on July 1, 2010. Check with Guest Relations (1-800-766-0449) to see if there are still spaces available.
