Theatre Under the Stars is continuing its annual summer tradition of offering outdoor musical theatre and unforgettable performances in Stanley Park’s Malkin Bowl.

Theatre Under the Stars (also known as TUTS) gets you outside and into nature, but still provides you with entertainment typically found indoors. This summer, TUTS will be performing two alternating shows that are, like, totally awesome!

On even days (eg. July 12, 14, 16, etc…) Theatre Under the Stars will host Legally Blonde: The Musical!

Back by popular demand, this musical is based on the Reese Witherspoon cinema classic about pretty-in-pink princess Elle Woods. When her boyfriend, Warner, breaks her heart and dumps her, she decides to follow him to Harvard Law School and win him back. With some help from her new-found friends and her chihuahua Bruiser, she learns that it’s so much better to be smart than pretty. Full of irresistible song and dance, this blonde-tastic musical was the hit of 2013!

On odd days (eg. July 13, 15, 17) Theatre under the Stars will host Shrek: The Musical!

A larger-than-life adventure, this show is based on the Dreamworks Animation Motion Picture. Join Shrek and his loyal steed Donkey, as they set off on a quest to rescue the beautiful (if slightly temperamental) Princess Fiona. Add the diminutive Lord Farquaad, a gang of fairytale misfits Stanley Park’s serene beauty – and you’ve got the must-see musical comedy of the summer!

The two shows run from July 11, 2014 until August 23, 2014 every night of the week! You can check out the full schedule of events here.

Tickets to Theatre under the Stars are $30-45 for adults, $30 for youth, $20 for students, and $30 for children. You can purchase your ticket ahead of time for easier convenience. There is also Rain Insurance, just in case you don’t want to watch live theatre while wearing a poncho.

Make it a picnic and a movie! You can eat in your seat or on a blanket on the grass. Theatre Under the Stars also has a concession run by The Butler Did It Catering with hot and cold food, a Hot Drinks bar featuring coffee ($3 each) and a TUTS wine/beer bar featuring Stanley Park Beer, red or white wines and coolers ($7 each).

Shows start at 8pm, except for fireworks nights when shows start at 7:00PM. In 2014 these nights are July 26, July 30 and August 2. Theatre Under the Stars runs from July 11th until August 23rd.
