Taboo Naughty but Nice Show is back January 19-22

This should melt the snowy start to the week. Taboo Naughty but Nice Show arrives in town Thursday, January 19 and stays until Sunday, January 22.

Taboo, which takes place at Vancouver Convention Centre, is Western Canada’s largest adult trade show. Now in its 11th season, Taboo Naughty but Nice 2012 promises more hedonistic amusement (shows, seminars and prizes) than years past.

Here’s a G-rated fact for you: Just by flipping through the program I learned that French kissing involves more than 29 facial muscles. And another: Lips are 100 times more sensitive than the tips of your fingers. Imagine what you can learn by attending. Or actually find out by reading more after the jump.

Naughty but Nice Seminars:

Whether you simply want to step up your basic game before Valentine’s Day, or are into more elaborate themes, there’s always something to learn.

Taboo’s racy line-up includes comparatively vanilla topics like “Improving Your Sex Life” and more provocative subjects like “Talking Dirty” and “Bondage 101” with suspended pose instruction.  Find the full list here.

Deals, prizes and shopping:

Taboo has all sorts of discounts off the $20 door entry, including two for one admission for ladies on Ladies’ Night Thursday, with a prize draw for a Glamour Boudoir shoot from PinUp Perfection Photography. On Toga Saturday you can get $5.00 off admission when dressed in a toga and the chance to win a Cancun weekend getaway. Is it worth the drafty outfit? You make the call.

It’s not often that all those shops with exciting window displays at which you furtively glance are all in one place. Once inside Taboo, banish blushes and boldly stroll among 50+ booths stuffed full of goodies like corsets, lingerie, latex, body paint, bondage supplies, toys, treats, jewellery, books and more.

Meanwhile, the wildly popular Mr. and Ms. Taboo competition returns Saturday night with the audience weighing in on the winner. Real people, not entertainment professionals, are competing for the title. The finalists were selected using Facebook “likes” and will compete in fashion shows for prizes including $1000 cash.

Entertainment:

There’s plenty going down on the main stage. Think burlesque led by Leigh Torlage, who worked on the film Chicago, exotic circus acts by the aerial, pyro stuntwomen of Stiletto Storm, Tantra Fitness (self explanatory) and Neil E. Dee’s bizarre Danger Thrill Show, which may involve Neil lying on blades and/or smashing concrete blocks on his chest.

Come on down to Taboo at Vancouver Convention Centre January 19-22. Tickets for day entry are $15 online and $20 at the door. A 4-day pass is $40. Note: Taboo Naughty but Nice show is for adults only.
