THE 3RD ANNUAL QUEER OF THE YEAR CONTEST

  • THE 3RD ANNUAL QUEER OF THE YEAR CONTEST

The day is here, and the day is QUEER! Montreal is once again looking for the brightest star under the rainbow in the 3rd Annual Queer of the Year competition. It’s fabulous, fierce and a little bit freaky, so if you’ve got what it takes – Submit today!

The search for the 2012 Queer of the Year is officially underway! Queer of the Year is a competition hosted by Tourisme Montreal. How does it work? Five Gay, Lesbian and Queer people fly to Montreal (all-expenses paid) to duke it out for a $5000 cash prize, a return trip to Montreal, and most importantly: The title of QUEER OF THE YEAR 2012. I’m already jealous of the future Queer of the Year 2012 finalists as their going to be staying at Hotel Le Germain, and that hotel is damn nice.

Think you have what it takes to be Queer of the Year? You’ll need to posses the five QOTY criteria: Personality, Talent, Healthy Lifestyle, Community Spirit and Sex Appeal. You’ll also need to rally your troops, as the crowning of the winner this year will be based only on public votes! But before all of that, you need to like the Facebook Page and submit an application! If we learnt anything last year, it’s that it helps if you have a sassy attitude and some killer stilettos.

Last year involved some pretty awesome pole-dancing and a drag queen on skates. This year Internet funny-lady Mikala Bierma will be back to host, and will lead the five finalists through a series of five challenges, or more “social experiments” if you will. We’ll get to watch as the contestants get downright wacky in the quest to become top Queer. A little bird told me that we can expect lots of poutine, glitter, and hot Queers. We can all follow along and see how this journey unfolds at the QOTY Twitter, Tumblr, and Facebook.
