THE INSEAM VOL. 2: The Return of Overalls

Overalls have returned! Does bookending the word ‘overalls’ with the french language make them any fancier? Debatable, but you can’t blame a girl for trying.

My previous opinion on overalls was not a positive one. However after I took the time to see what was out there and how brands have updated overalls this time around I found some really awesome ways to style them. This trend is definitely not for everyone but if you’re keen to pull it off here are my tips for achieving different looks:

Too cool for school    Loose fitting overalls with a print over a fitted crop top, personalize with minimal accessories and a snap-back hat. This is the look responsible for converting my opinion to pro overalls!

Adventure-ress    Throw on a long sleeve cotton shirt under a loose fitting pair of earth-tone overalls topped off with a felt hat and you’re ready for just about anything- including the discovery that you could be Indiana Jones’s long-lost daughter.

Farmer’s daughter/Girl next door    Buckle the straps of a long slim fit pair of overalls over an off the shoulder top and you’ll be cuter than a teacup pig. Throw on canvas shoes to keep it casual or switch it up with heels to turn it chic.

Casual summer    Go for a distressed denim pair of short overalls with a semi-sheer blouse underneath and your favourite sandals, easy and stylish.
