This Week’s Featured Vancouverite: Guy Labrecque
Hometown: Drummondville, Quebec.
How long have you been a Vancouverite? 18 years
Occupation:
I’m a senior hairstylist at Suki Salon on West 1st Avenue and am also involved with the art direction department including work on hair shows, competitions, and photo shoots.
Favourite Vancouver shops and restaurants:
I love home furnishing and cooking, so on a beautiful day I enjoy shopping at The Cross and other unique stores around the city. I also enjoy having a nice bottle of wine at the Vancouver Art Gallery Café, and then going to Granville Island Public Market for some fresh produce to cook a fabulous meal for my wonderful boyfriend Vincent. My favorite restaurants are Vij’s, Chengdu Szechuan Bistro and La Brasserie.
Best way to spend $100 in Vancouver:
Pick up a nice bottle of wine and then go to Les Amis Du Fromage to pick up some good cheese and then stop by Notte’s Bon Ton or Thomas Haas for a few dessert.
Top insider tip for visitors:
For summer visitors, a must visit to the Okanagan Valley and the Vancouver Art Gallery Cafe for some affordable wine selections and great environments with live music. For winter visitors, The Georgia Hotel lounge, Vancouver Hotel lounge and Whistler Spa Ski resort.
