The city is gearing up for the Vancouver Pride Parade August 5, which happens to be the biggest pride parade in all of Western Canada. Each year, the Pride Parade and Sunset Beach Festival attract over 650,000 attendees with their overwhelming fabulousness.

The build up to the big day includes all sorts of fun: barbecues, movie nights, barefoot street dance parties, cruises and bar events.

One of the stand out features of this signature Vancouver summer event is the event brew: Vancouver Pride Golden Ale, aka G’Ale, a joint venture by craft brewer RB and the Vancouver Pride Society.

Legacy Liquor Stores in Millennium Village is hosting a public tasting of Vancouver Pride Week G’Ale Golden Ale July 31, from 4pm to 7pm.

Vancouver Pride made the event ale into a public event by calling on Facebook fans to vote on the recipe, the label and the name. RB Brewing Co., “Vancouver’s Local Microbrewery, ” is the crafty mastermind behind the suds production. RB’s been in the craft beer scene for over a decade, and are based in Vancouver’s historic Brewery Creek district. They’re no stranger to Gold Medals at the Canadian Brewing Awards.

Golden ale is a perfect summer beer and a session beer – a beer it’s easy to keep quaffing. Expect G’Ale to be balanced, refreshing and simple with a nice balance between hops and malt.

Legacy Liquor will have 650 millilitre bottles of G’Ale available from July 31, for about two weeks or until supplies run out.  Look for the sparkly, circular rainbow on the G’Ale label, designed by Brenda Bezell.
