A picture may be worth a thousand words but sometimes that just ain’t enough. Periodically throughout the winter The Whistler Insider will select an image from the #WhistlerUnfiltered archives and dig a little deeper to find the story behind the photo (and the thousand words.)

This week we’ve tracked down Marco from Ontario and asked him to fill in the blanks about this photo and that “Rooftop of the World” feeling that occurs whenever one stands atop a snowy mountain in Whistler.

Any day spent in the mountains is stress-free and being on “the Rooftop of the World” feels like you’re really alive.

I lived in Whistler for 18 months and when this photo was taken I was on my way to hike Spanky’s Ladder then traverse across the ridge and hit Ruby Bowl. After that I got a taste of the fresh, steep powder then went right back at it again in Sapphire Bowl.

My favourite mountain is Blackcomb and the best run is a tie between the Spanky’s bowls and Couloir Extreme on a powder day. When in Whistler everyone should hit up Crystal Lounge for beer and wings and then head to one of the clubs.

The best way to celebrate a day on the slopes is at Dusty’s with a cold one and a pulled beef sandwich and one thing everyone should know about Whistler before they show up is that they don’t need fancy club clothing to go out and make sure to to try Fresh Tracks breakfast up at The Roundhouse. It’s the best way to hit the mountain early for fresh lines.

If I could I would eat every meal at the Rim Rock Cafe and I think life is all about happiness and living it to the fullest.

If I could live in Whistler all the time I would be very, very, happy. That’s why I am moving back there next month for the rest of this winter. Wooooo!
