In a city as diverse as Montreal, there are plenty of alternative places and events for LGBT people to go to located outside of the Gay Village…

From wild dance parties to more intimate cocktail mixers, Montreal has an impressive roster of Gay and Lesbian parties happening outside the Gay Village every month. So no matter what kind of experience you’re looking for, there’s a little something for everyone. These nights are always budget friendly, filled with fun, and a great way to meet local hotties and fellow travellers!

Audio Porn Club: After L’Amour a 3’s popular Mec Plus Ultra took a final bow this year, like a phoenix from the ashes Audio Porn Club was born. Taking place at the instantly iconic Royal Phoenix in Montreal’s Mile-End neighborhood, Audio Porn Club puts the focus on the music. Electro-Pop, Indie Rock, and whatever can be considered porn for your aural bits. When? Second Saturday of each month at 11pm. Why? Because you like to dance, get crazy, and appreciate the 3 shots for $10 all night.

Pink28: Pink28 started way back in 2009 and caters to professional lesbian women in Montreal. It takes place at a new venue each time but always on the first Wednesday of each month. The atmosphere is very chic and trendy, but what else did you expect from a room a full of Montreal lesbians! Follow them on Twitter or Facebook to find out the location of the next Pink28.

Meow Mix: Another long running outside the Gay Village party for Queer girls and their friends! It’s usually the third Saturday of every month, but there are a few exceptions. Meow Mix takes place at Sala Rossa and invites anyone who is curious to give Meow Mixing a try!

Gaybash: Don’t be thrown off by the name, this is one fun, diverse, and inclusive party. I don’t think one can truly understand what Gaybash is, unless they attend a Gaybash party. Hosted by Montreal club kids Sally and Tyler, this monthly party is where performance art meets alcohol-fueled dance mob. What separates this event from all the others is that it takes place in a different venue each time, so it’s a great way to discover new places and hidden gems all around Montreal. Follow the Gaybash twitter or like their Facebook page to find out when the next Gaybash is. Tip: There’s always an extravagant theme, and if you dress in costume, you get reduced cover.

Faggity Ass Fridays: Another event name that might raise a few eyebrows, but Faggity Ass Friday benefits Head Hands peer-based sex education programs. A $10 donation gives you access to the long running queer dance party that has been voted the #1 Club Night in Montreal by the Montreal Mirror in 2008 and 2009. When? Last Friday of every month. Where? Playhouse Cabaret (5656 Avenue du Parc)
