CoinFest, Vancouver’s first ever Bitcoin festival is coming this Saturday. On February 15th, from 4-10pm, join the Bitcoin Co-Op at Waves Coffee downtown for a fun event with the Bitcoin community. There will be a demonstration on how the cryptocurrency works and you can practice and learn about the revolutionary technology and concept behind the new digital money.

The event is hosted by the Bitcoin Co-Op, a democratic organisation supporting the advancement of Bitcoin. The voluntary association hopes to establish relationships in the Bitcoin community and expand Bitcoin adoption and the Bitcoin economy. Because Bitcoin is still a relatively new form of currency, the Bitcoin Co-op united to create support in the community and educate people about Bitcoin. Their mission is simply to support the Bitcoin movement. Waves Coffee, the venue of the event, was the first franchised coffee shop to accept Bitcoin.

There is no charge for CoinFest, though the organisers ask attendees to please consider buying one item from the venue or donating BTC to the organiser. At least 50% of the bitcoins raised from the event will go directly to the Bitcoin Co-Op’s non-profit, Bitcoin Outreach Fund. The Fund is used to spread Bitcoin awareness and acceptance through outlets chosen by the community, such as the funding of CoinFest.
