Freshly Brewed: 1914 Coffee Co. Opens on Second Avenue

DSC_0570

Mike Chapman knows his coffee. Last week, the former Galileo Coffee Company brewer opened 1914 Coffee Company, a craft coffee shop that focuses on what’s important: making a really good cup of coffee. The café is the latest to join the slow-coffee movement focusing on made-to-order coffee and espresso.

The large, open-concept space features a concrete coffee-bar, reclaimed wood and 19th-century artifacts. The name 1914 pays homage to the year Squamish was named and Mike’s grandfather was born.

Each cup of coffee is made before you using the classic pour-over method which some will argue is the only way to enjoy coffee.

The shop currently brews coffee made with Transcend and Galileo Coffee beans as well as tea from a selection of Lucas Teas loose teas.

1914 Coffee Company is open at 38123 2nd Avenue on weekdays from 8am-7pm and weekends from 9am-5pm. Find them on Facebook at facebook.com/1914coffeecompany.
