Whistler Luxury – VIP at The Mountain Club

It’s a crazy world that’s only getting crazier so, in this day and age, a little convenience goes a long long way. Wouldn’t it be nice to have gated, underground slope slide parking in Whistler with a ski locker and private change room/locker?

For almost anyone the answer is an obvious “yes” but toss in a fitness centre, sauna/steam room two hot tubs and an indoor/outdoor heated pool and this sounds almost too good to be true.It is true though, and it’s called The Mountain Club, a members-only club offering the luxury mountainside convenience 12 months a year. Whistler winter, however, is where the Club really shines.

“Time is precious and winter is not infinite,” says Dee Raffo of Gibbons Hospitality, the Whistler group managing The Mountain Club. “The good times on the mountain are what is most important so why not make everything OFF the mountain easy and simple so you just enjoy the day?”

For Club members, easy and simple means heated, gated underground parking in the Westin Resort Spa, just steps from the Whistler Village Gondola. It also means a private locker and change room, ski storage and access to the Westin’s health club, pool, steam room and hot tubs. A private lounge/games room completes the package along with members’ discounts at the Firerock Lounge.

“It’s basically rockstar parking,” says Whistler photographer Andy Dittrich, who joined the club in November. “That’s what I like the most. There’s no hoping to luck into a spot or walking from the day lot, if I am late getting into town I know my spot is there, that is the biggest thing for me, and it’s underground so after a big pow day I am not brushing snow off my truck, I’m in the hot tub instead.”

That hot tub can be indoor or outdoor as the Westin Resort and Spa has both options, as well as an indoor/outdoor swimming pool that blows kids’ minds the first time they see it. The Fitness facility features mountain views, two-story ceilings and enough equipment to ensure you get your sweat on for the days you don’t make it up the ski hill. The private, members-only change rooms make it easy to get out of the ski boots and into something comfy for après. The private lounge has wi-fi and games for the kids. And the ski locker means you’re snow covered skis never see (or soak) the interior of your car.

“I think the main advantage is The Mountain Club makes you feel more connected to Whistler,” Dee says. “Like you have your own little spot up here to come and enjoy. It’s private comfort and convenience in one of the best places on earth.”

The Mountain Club is limited to 300 memberships and cost $2080 annually for a family of up to four. And check out some of Whistler’s other more luxurious services and offerings at Whistler.com.
