Where to skate, Ice Canoe, Snow Yoga, Dance and more in Montreal this Winter 2

From tobogganing, skating and cross-country skiing to newfangled pastimes like kicksledding, ice canoeing, dancing and even snow yoga, Montrealers like to bundle up and enjoy the outdoors

Where to Ice Skate: Get your P.K. Subban on by lacing up some skates and hitting the ice. The most popular places to skate in Montreal are the Bonsecours Basin in the Old Port, Beaver Lake on Mount Royal, or the beautiful indoor atrium at 1000 De La Gauchetière.

Where to Toboggan: Beaver Lake on Mount-Royal has dedicated tobogganing and snow tube lanes, and don’t worry about lugging up a sled because you can rent them there for only $8. Parc Jean-Drapeau’s Fête des Neiges runs every weekend from January 18 to February 9, 2014, and has inner tubing and sliding among many other winter activities.

Where to Cross-Country Ski, Kicksled and Snowshoe: Mount Royal, Parc Jean-Drapeau and Parc Maisonneuve are all popular spots to do the distance snow sports. Mount Royal and Jean-Drapeau offer rentals on site, but for Maisonneuve you’ll need to bring your own. Kicksledding is the new hot thing- it’s like a scooter for snow and all the cool kids are into it. Do it anywhere with snow but a major park like Mount Royal, Lafontaine, Maisonneuve or Jean-Drapeau is best.

Where to Ice Canoe: Why would someone want to ice canoe? Because they’re hardcore and fearless. While most of us are trying to stay warm, some people will be pushing canoes across the ice and paddling the freezing waters of the Old Port. Bota Bota spa sur l’eau has the best seats in the city for the extreme ice canoe challenge on February 22, 2014.

Where to Dance: Igloofest is an electronic music fiesta under the stars in the Old Port. It’s hard to even explain how awesome this is so just watch this video.

Snowga

Where To Snowga What is Snowga? Snow Yoga. Oui, Montrealers do yoga in the snow and not just because it comes with a complimentary hot drink. Snowga takes place on Sundays starting in January near the Mount Royal chalet. Find out more about snowga here.
