Last post we listed Whistler Cornucopia’s most affordable options so today we’re going in the other direction– the super gloss, high end, bragging-to-your-friends marquis parties and events. Whistler Cornucopia has something for everyone, but this is for you high rollers, big bangers and people who take the finer things in life very seriously.
Friday November 9, 2012. Fairmont Chateau Whistler, Upper Village. $150
A gambling-for-charity evening bringing Las Vegas to the mountains, this brand new afterparty is already heating up. Cocktails and canapés, dancing and gambling with all proceeds going to Whistler Animals Galore, the local animal shelter.
“It’s a mix of Vegas pizzaz with Whistler debauchery all for a good cause,” says Jess Smith, perennial Cornucopia attendee-turned-organizer.“So roll the dice, spin the wheel, hit the tables and live it up!”
Get your roll on from 10pm-2am. High Rollers is an excellent post-Crush or post-Winery Dinner option.
Eau du Vie – A Spirited Affair
Friday November 9, 2012. 5280 bar at the Four Seasons. $100
Big-time luxury brands Patron Tequila and Remy Martin Cognac are throwing their own shaker Friday night. DJ’d beats and innovative cocktail culture will help you savour the ‘Water of Life.’ “It’s going to be chic and gentlemanly,” Jess says. “Dress nice and be prepared for sensory overload.”
Another Friday night post-Crush option, Eau du Vie flows from 9:30pm-1am.
Friday Nov 9th and Saturday Nov 10th, 2012. Whistler Village/Creekside. $95-$350
The cream of the crop, this series pairs Whistler’s heaviest culinary hitters with high-end wine to create the kinds of dining experiences that can really only be described as ‘Mind-blowing, world-class, crème de la crème, absolutely ridiculous how good these are going to be,” says Jess .
Participating restaurants include Hy’s Steakhouse, The Bearfoot Bistro, Araxi, Alta Bistro, Nita Lake Lodge, Tandoori Grill, La Bocca, Sidecut at the Four Seasons, The Grill Room at The Fairmont, and The Aubergine Grille at the Westin. Some venues are holding their winery dinner on Friday and others are on Saturday so check the links. The tastebuds start overloading with joy at either 6:30pm or 7pm, depending on the venue.
Chef’s Trip to the Farm
Saturday November 10, 2012. North Arm Farm, Pemberton. $145
It was Araxi head Chef James Walt who really popularized the locally sourced menu but since then most restaurants have hopped on board and for good reason– we have some amazing farmland and farmers just up the road in Pemberton. This Chef’s Trip to the Farm features Fairmont Chateau Whistler Executive Chef Vincent Stufano leading a foray out to North Arm Farm for a harvesting discussion and hearty home-style meal. “North Arm Farm is incredible,” says Jess. “Go pet the pigs, and experience a truly local culinary adventure.”
Transportation is provided so meet in the foyer at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler at 8:30am.
Araxi Bubbles + Oceans
Saturday, November 10, 2012. Araxi – Whistler Village. $155
Seafood and deluxe bubbles from 20 of the world’s top Champagne and sparkling wine houses? Food from James Walt, one of Whistler’s most renowned top chefs? “Yes please,” says Jess. “Oysters, crab, sushi…We live right beside the ocean so you know the seafood is going to be off the chain.” And the drinks are sure to match. Music will be provided by ex-Whistler local violinist Kytami and guitarist Dallin Paul. But don’t expect Irish pub songs, these two are plugged-in and full-on. Araxi Bubbles and Oceans will probably be the party of the weekend.
The oyster-shucking good times start at 10pm.
So there you have it. High rollers, low rollers, Ferraris or Subarus, if you like to eat and drink and enjoy fun there’s no better place than Whistler Cornucopia.
